2IIM's IIFT, CAT GD & Personal Interview (PI) @ Mumbai (Bombay)
Personal Interview Training by IIM Graduates
Cracking the CAT or IIFT or the written tests of some of the best B Schools in the country is a feat in itself. However, that is just one of the most difficult stages that you have crossed in your race to securing a seat in the best B schools. The next two stages are equally important. Having cracked the written test, you should leave no stone unturned to convert the PI calls into one or more admissions.
Did you know that most of the b schools accord as high weightage to GDs and PIs as they do to CAT / respective written tests. IIM Bangalore, for one, has disclosed that the weightage for GD and PI is as high as 35% while the weightage given to CAT is only 20%. Now, you know as to how much time and energy you devoted to the preparation of CAT / other written tests. How much time and energy are you going to spend for GDs / PIs?
Most B Schools do not have the Group Discussion as an elimination round. All students who are invited to take part in the GD will also be interviewed. And of the two, Personal Interview plays a bigger role in deciding a candidate's suitability for the program. Not that one can neglect GDs, but PIs play a larger role in the selection process.
2IIM's Group Discussion Module
The candidates will be allotted to groups of size 8 to 10. The group size depends on the institute the candidate is applying to. Each candidate will participate in 2 rounds of Group Discussion. We will ensure that each time he or she is part of a different set of students. The group discussion will be monitored by IIM graduates.
After each round, there will be a feedback session. The feedback will include comments about the content of the discussion, style of delivery, body language, modes of intervention etc.
We will focus on providing individual feedback as there is no one-size-fits-all suggestion booklet for Group Discussions.
2IIM's Personal Interview Module
Each participant will go through a series of 2 mock interviews. The interviews will be conducted by a panel comprising graduates from IIMs who are presently working in various capacity in the Indian industry. Feedback will be provided and progress monitored over the course of the series of interviews.
The first interview will last for 30 minutes followed by 30+ minutes of feedback. A specific set of areas that the student has to work on will be listed and provided at the end of the first session. A reasonable amount of time to work on these areas will be provided before the next interview is scheduled.
The second interview, in addition to checking if the performance of the candidate has improved in areas identified in the first interview will check the candidate's preparedness comprehensively and provide feedback. It will hone any rough edges and polish the candidate's answers to improve his or her chances of succeeding in the personal interview.
Live Recording of Personal Interviews
The Personal Interview will be recorded and the video file will be given to the candidate. This will help the candidate understand how they have presented and conducted themselves in the interview.
Faculty
The full time faculty comprises graduates from IIMs with industry experience.
